Le Paquet/The Parcel

Si tout va bien, c'est ce petit bonhomme sorti tout droit de la Russie de la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale que vous allez voir en action dans mon prochain film intitulé (pour l'instant, du moins) Посылка (prononcer pasilka, "le paquet" en russe). Je ne dirai rien de plus!

If all goes well, it's this little guy coming straight out from World War II's Russia that you'll see in action in my next film, titled (for the moment, at least) Посылка (pronounced paseelka, "the parcel" in Russian). I won't say anything more!

Lorsque j'ai eu vent des contraintes techniques pour mon film de première année à l'école de cinéma Mel Hoppenheim (université Concordia), j'ai décidé de garder le tout très simple. J'avais trois mois pour pondre un film d'environ une minute qui serait filmé sur pellicule 35mm... ce qui est, selon moi, un peu irréaliste. Toutefois, je crois bien que la simplicité de Lucien, Superstar est ce qui le rend charmant.

When I learned what would be the technical constraints for my first year film at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema (Concordia University), I decided to keep it very simple. I had three months to come up with a one minute short which would be shot on 35mm film... which is, in my opinion, a tad unrealistic. Still, I think Lucien, Superstar's simplicity is what makes it charming.

Réalisé durant mes études en dessin animé au cégep du Vieux Montréal, Fou tu est le fruit d'un an et demi de dur labeur et d'innombrables litres de lait au chocolat. Si je sais bien compter, j'en étais au 850ème dessin lorsque je l'ai terminé, au bout de plus de 750 heures de travail. Dommage, parce qu'autant de papier, c'est pas vraiment écolo...

Done during my studies in Animation at the cegep du Vieux Montreal, Fou tu is the result of a year and a half of hard work and countless litres of chocolate milk. If I counted well, I was at my 850th drawing when I finished it, after more than 750 hours of work. Sad, because so much paper isn't very environment-friendly...
